Mormons Making Excuses for Lies in BoM

10 November

Ensign, “The Keystone of Our Religion,” January 2004; “It is important to know what the Book of Mormon is not. It is not primarily a history, although much of what it contains is historical. …The test for understanding this sacred book is preeminently spiritual. An obsession with secular knowledge rather than spiritual understanding will make its pages difficult to unlock.” – James Faust

1 Nephi 17:11; “And it came to pass that I, Nephi, did make a bellows wherewith to blow the fire, of the skins of beasts; and after I had made a bellows, that I might have wherewith to blow the fire, I did smite two stones together that I might make fire.”

Titus 1:16; “They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate”

The word ‘bellows’ comes from the Old English, meaning to cry out, belly. It originated c. 1000 AD, long after the BoM was written.

While bellows have been around for thousands of years, they couldn’t have been part of the Nephite landscape. No metallurgical evidence of any type of bellows is evident in Mesoamerican archaeology.

With those two strikes against the idea of Nephi making bellows, it’s hard to image this story has any truth to it at all! Sadly, the Mormon hierarchy is obviously on clean-up patrol trying to fix the problems they’ve caused with their lies…

Be sure to ask your Mormon friends/relatives about this one when you have the opportunity.

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
