Do you recall what led you up to the point of salvation? What factors played a prominent role in your decision to become a Christian? The longer I’m a Christian, the more convinced I become that I made the right decision!

These are the points you’ll want to remember as you witness to the Mormon you know. Just like anyone else in other scenarios, if they can see your passion and sincerity for their welfare, they’ll be more open to your message.

As I was recalling events leading up to the day of my salvation, I also wondered why the Church continues to send out duplicitous messages to its members. In a General Conference Talk in April 2013, Jeffrey Holland told Mormons not to put a lot of emphasis on the their personal questions. Backing up their resolve six months later, Mr. Dieter Uchtdorf told everyone at the November 2013 General Conference to, ‘Doubt Your Doubts’.

If Mormons are supposed to ‘doubt their doubts’ and question their own thinking, how safe will they feel to not do so now? What message is the Church trying to send out with this latest directive?

For me personally, one of the ‘big’ spiritual events took place the last time I went to the Ogden Temple to be baptized for the dead. Seeing demons surrounding the baptismal font was a clear indication I was worshiping a different god. I refer to these life events as my ‘altar moments’. God takes the time to open my eyes and alter my life, so I in turn take time to stop at an altar of praise to thank and praise Him just as Jacob did by building altars in his narrow escapes from Laban and Esau. (Genesis chpts 28, 31, 32)

As I’m sure you’ve noticed, the info we retrieved our quote from (The New Era Magazine), is geared towards LDS youth from 12-18 years of age. We’re sure their message would be more than a little confusing for a young person! They already have a lot of other things going on in those heads, and dumping something like this on them makes it even worse.

I’m personally praying as they perform ordinances for the dead, the Lord will open their eyes as He did for me as a teenager. I’m confident if He’d do this for me, He’ll do it for everyone!

We’re also asking that Christians will take the time to pray for all Mormons, but especially the youth as they read their leaders’ message in this month’s magazine.
