Mormon Terminology: Grace

02 April

Romans 6:14 “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.”

LDS.org/Youth What is grace?; “Grace is divine help and strength that we receive through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Through grace, we are saved from sin and death. In addition, grace is an enabling power that strengthens us from day to day and helps us endure to the end. Effort is required on our part to receive the fulness of the Lord’s grace.”

Ephesians 2:8-9; “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works,  lest any man should boast.”

Paul’s argument on the meaning of grace seems to be the go-to verse for all Christians, and rightly so! In addition to that awesome verse are a couple of others that’d be great to share with the Mormon in your life. They’ve obviously bought into a lie about the true meaning of grace…

John was announcing that for eons they’d only known life as living it through the Law, but Jesus brought us grace which is much better. Thank You Lord!

John 1:17 ‘For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.’

Another quintessential verse to share comes from Paul’s admonition to the Galatians, which no doubt, is a mainstay for ministries to the cults.

Galatians 1:6 “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel”.

Be sure to share with the Mormon that grace is a gift. There’s no hidden meaning behind its original intent, and to twist it into something it’s not, is blasphemous.

Very telling in the full meaning of the word grace, you’ll find the following explanation –

‘especially the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude)’.

That definition speaks volumes about the current situation Mormons find themselves in today. While no one but God can read another man’s thoughts and heart, we can tell what the agenda is of any organization, especially Mormonism. Their teachings don’t reflect gratitude to God for the gift of grace He’s given to us. They’ve twisted the meaning of grace to resemble a distorted version in the Laws of God, and they certainly disregard what He’s said in Ephesians 2:8-9 by plagiarizing, and rewriting it as part of the canon in the Book of Mormon –

2 Nephi 25:23 “…for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.”

The transliteration for the Greek word ‘grace’ is ‘charis’, and you can find it in the KJV 130 times!

Ask the Mormon why effort is required on their part to receive a gift God has given us, and why the Church has turned this into a ‘woe is me’ scenario.

Do they make their kids earn the birthday, or Christmas gifts they give to them?

Here’s what Strong’s Concordance has to say about the word grace –

from <G5463> charis (chairo); graciousness (as gratifying), of manner or act (abstract or concrete; literal, figurative or spiritual; especially the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude) :- acceptable, benefit, favour, gift, grace (-ious), joy, liberality, pleasure, thank (-s, -worthy).
