…  I received a copy of the following revelation.

Revelation given through President John Taylor,

…   Thus saith the Lord … Let my servants George Teasdale and Heber J. Grant be appointed to fill the vacancies in the Twelve…  You may appoint Seymour B. Young to fill up ‘the vacancy in the presiding quorum of seventies, if he will conform to my  law [plural marriage]; for it is not meet that men who will not abide by law shall preside over my priesthood ….” –– Jean Bickmore White (editor), Church, State, and Politics: The Diaries of John Henry Smith, Signature Books in association with Smith Research Associates, Salt Lake City, 1990.

1 Corinthians 7:2; “Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.”

The reference we’ve listed today comes from a very lengthy false prophecy doled out by John Taylor, the 3rd prophet of Mormonism.

We’re wondering why the Mormon god would issue such a mandate seeing as how the future of Mormon polygamy would soon be declared illegal in the eyes of the US Government.

We must always turn to God’s word to find our direction. Clearly, Paul’s admonition speaks to the understanding that married men must have only one wife, just as married women must have only one husband.

Moreover, Jesus’ instruction defines marriage as one man to one woman in Matthew 19:4, and Mark 10:6-8. Not one man with numerous women, nor should there be women practicing polyandry.

Two important examples of this come from Noah, and what God created to begin with before the fall of Adam and Eve. We don’t see the practice of polygamy until Cain’s son, Lamech, comes on the scene in Gen. 4:23. Take note how God always spoke to Adam about taking a wife, not multiple wives.

Noah was considered to be a righteous man, as was his family. Noah and his sons each had only one wife when they went into the ark. Genesis 7:7 If ever there was a time to justify polygamy in the OT, it surely would’ve been so with events of the flood!

Alas, we see two examples of how God ordained monogamy, not polygamy, as the perfect model of marriage since the beginning of time.
