Mormon Lies about the Bible

13 July

thinkingimageFor the past several weeks Melissa and I have been organizing all the Mormon quotes we publish each day to make it easier to retrieve the info you (and we) need.  Don’t ask why I didn’t think of this beforehand…

As I was alphabetizing all these things I came across two very conflicting statements put out by the Church. They stood out like a sore thumb and once again reminded me of the confusion I always felt when I was Mormon.

Both statements were made by LDS leaders that members highly regard and look up to so it’s not like I’ve scrounged the bottom of some woebegone teaching they’ve tossed aside or tried to ignore.

If you’re LDS I have a few questions for you and I ask these in all humbleness with no animosity at all!  I pray you would ask yourself these things for your own sake, not mine and not the Church; just you.

What are your thoughts about these things?

How do you look at the Bible?

Is it with ambiguity as we’ve seen here with these examples or do you hold fast to the theory that the Bible is untrustworthy?

If the Bible is untrustworthy, can you explain why this is so?

From where did you retrieve this info?

Have you considered looking at resources outside of LDS portals and if not; why?

In these two examples given, if the Bible alone cannot save, then how does the BoM strengthen our love for the Bible and how does it authenticate the Bible?

What about the BoM? Why can’t it save you if Joseph Smith said it contained the fullness of the gospel?

Bible Alone Cannot Save

Discourses of Brigham Young, pg 127; “We have learned much from the Bible. We have also learned much from the Book of Mormon and the book of Doctrine and Covenants; but all the salvation you can obtain by means of those books alone is comparatively of little value. They contain a history of what other men have done, show the path they walked in, and the way in which they obtained the words of eternal life for themselves; but all the Scriptures from the days of Adam until now cannot, alone, save one individual.” – Also see Journal of Discourses 7:332.

2 Timothy 3:13-15; “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”

It’s amazing what man can think up when left alone to his own devices.  When we start believing God cannot do something we’re in big trouble.

Bible and Book of Mormon Authenticate Each Other

Ensign, Nov. 2007, 43; “Scriptural witnesses authenticate each other. This concept was explained long ago when a prophet wrote that the Book of Mormon was ‘written for the intent that ye may believe [the Bible]; and if ye believe [the Bible] ye will believe [the Book of Mormon] also’ (Mormon 7:9). Each book refers to the other. Each book stands as evidence that God lives and speaks to His children by revelation to His prophets.

Love for the Book of Mormon expands one’s love for the Bible and vice versa. Scriptures of the Restoration do not compete with the Bible; they complement the Bible. We are indebted to martyrs who gave their lives so that we could have the Bible. It establishes the everlasting nature of the gospel and of the plan of happiness. The Book of Mormon restores and underscores biblical doctrines such as tithing, the temple, the Sabbath day, and the priesthood.” – Russell M. Nelson, “Scriptural Witnesses”

Hebrews 4:12; “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

It hurt my selfish pride the first time I heard someone tell me that God didn’t need me.  The friend of mine who shared this precious truth gave me a great gift indeed!  As I went about explaining what I had to do for God he interrupted me to say that God didn’t need me and that God didn’t need anyone.

Love me yes, need me, no.  If God needed me then what kind of God is that?  Would He need someone else’s help at the time I call on Him for help?  What if that person was unavailable or unwilling?

I was convicted of my sin to the very core.

That scenario so many years ago is what I think of when I read the Mormon passage above.

God’s word doesn’t need outside help from other books to convict someone’s heart.

The author of Hebrews clearly announces to God’s children that His word is capable and sufficient.  God’s redeeming work through the Holy Spirit inside of each believer alongside His holy inspired word does the job needed to bring us to our knees.

Moreover, the Bible is clear when it warns us to not listen to another gospel (Galatians 1:6-9).

The canon is closed.

Also see Revelation 22:17-18; “For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”

I was forced as a young man of 15 to attend a mormon church…the things they believe and taught literally made my skin crawl….wow… satan has a severe hold on those lost souls…please please dont be decieved…READ YOUR BIBLE….THOUGH THEIR MAY BE A VERY SMALL PERCENTAGE OF “jESUS OF THE BIBLE BELIEVERS” IN THE MORMON CHURCH….MORMONISM DOES NOT PRODUCE CHRISTIANS… MORMONISM PRODUCES MORMONS…AND THE MORMON GOD IS SATAN HIMSELF!!! Now, im actually spending quite a bit of time driving the streets of my hometown, looking for mormon missionaries and trying to introduce them to the REAL JESUS!!!!
