The Mormon Jesus

Along with our look at the occult symbols on the Mormon temples, we’re going to be taking a look at the Mormon Jesus for the next few days. Who is or was he? What does he represent? Where is this Jesus from? When did he live and why? What is his purpose for the Mormon people?

When I was a Mormon, Jesus represented a mythical type figure that I could never really know.

I understood his purpose was to be an example for me to follow. He was my spiritual elder brother who came here to this earth to earn his way to godhood. Since he obeyed and achieved a state of perfection while here he had obviously earned his status as a god of his own earth.

Today let’s look at a couple of the teachings of the LDS Church. You can see why it’d be difficult at best to have a relationship with him if the teachings about him are incorrect. Add to that the satanic oaths that are rehearsed in the temple and you should be able to see why there is confusion in the hearts and minds of the Mormon people!

Above all else, don’t forget to pray for the Mormons.  Our hearts break as I’m sure yours does as well. We never want to come across as being better than they are but we do want them to know they’re worshipping the wrong Jesus!

Jesus Appointed as Savior Contested

Abraham 3:27-28; And the Lord said: Whom shall I send? And one answered like unto the Son of Man: Here am I, send me. And another answered and said: Here am I, send me. And the Lord said: I will send the first.  28 And the second was angry, and kept not his first estate; and, at that day, many followed after him.

Matthew 24:24; For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Interestingly enough the Mormons will tell you in this passage that Satan wanted everyone to be saved.  Isn’t that what they’re doing now inside their temples being baptized for all the dead people so they can be saved?

Jesus Baptized in 600 BC

1 Nephi 10:10; And after he had baptized the Messiah with water, he should behold and bear record that he had baptized the Lamb of God, who should take away the sins of the world.

Matthew 24:23-26; Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.  24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.  25 Behold, I have told you before.  26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

This vision supposedly took place in 600 BC.  These guys were still in Jerusalem with the Babylonians sacking their city and literally hacking the Israelites to death.  This is so random and out of place.

Jesus, Be Friends with

Journal of Discourses 8:339; But the greatest and most important of all requirements of our Father in heaven and of his Son Jesus Christ, is, to his brethren or disciples, to believe in Jesus Christ, confess him, seek to him, cling to him, make friends with him.” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, January 20, 1861

John 15:13-14; Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 14Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

I find this so odd.  The Church has always told their followers that it is a false doctrine to believe you can be friends with Jesus.  Growing up in the Church I always looked at having a relationship with Him like my Aunt Lulu had with her brother, Butch Cassidy.  She hardly knew him. http://lifeafterministry.wordpress.com/category/jesus-my-brother/

Jesus Became Master Over Elements

Sermons…of Melvin J. Ballard, pg. 177; While Jesus Christ ministered among men in the flesh, he demonstrated power over all things, for he became master of elements. He had power over the winds and the waves. He could speak, and the trees would wither. At his command the dead came back to mortal existence. This was a glorious accomplishment.

Matthew 8:23-27; And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.  24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.  25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.  26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.  27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

Now Mormons believe Jesus is Jehovah which means self-existent.  How could Jesus become a master over the elements if he’s self-existent?
