Mormon Elohim, Canaanite Sex Gods Compared

Isaiah 45:5; “I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me.”

canaanite-sex-gods The well known Mormon phrase ‘families are forever’ has been a mantra of those in the Church for generations now. Most members, however, aren’t aware their heavenly father is a remake of the ancient Canaanite sex gods we read about in the Bible.

While visiting another website a couple of weeks ago, Melissa took a double take at the conversation posted on their site. They were discussing a book written by the late apostle, John A. Widtsoe titled ‘Rational Theology’. Mr. Widtsoe left little to the imagination in his interpretation of whom they worship.

One has to wonder why Mormons believe this is the God of the Bible when clearly, it’s not. The info below may seem sensational, but this is the reality of who Mormons worship in their ward buildings and temples. The only thing sensational is how far removed their theology is from what we know of the God of the Bible. Remember to pray for these dear people!

Rational Theology, pp. 65, 69; “The Gods of This Earth … Sex Among the Gods. Sex, which is indispensable on this earth for the perpetuation of the human race, is an eternal quality which has its equivalent everywhere. It is indestructible. The relationship between men and women is eternal and must continue eternally. In accordance with Gospel philosophy there are males and females in heaven. Since we have a Father, who is our God, we must also have a mother, who possesses the attributes of godhood. …” – John A. Widtsoe

Rational Theology, p. 155;Eternity of Sex. It has already been said that sex is an eternal principle. The equivalent of sex, dimly understood by man, has always existed and will continue forever. Since sex, then, represents an eternal condition, the begetting of children is coincidentally an eternal necessity. We were begotten into the spirit world by God the Father, and have been born into the world which we now possess.” – John A. Widtsoe

Canaanites (Genesis 9:18), the ancestors of the Hittites, practiced all sorts of idolatry by worshiping gods like Molech, and Kronos. They mainly followed in the footsteps of the Amalekites, the first enemy Israel encountered.

As a side note: the doctrine Mr. Widtsoe spoke about in the comment above is one of the reasons I left Mormonism. While pregnant with my  third child in four years,  I was very sick and extremely tired. While investigating the Church during this time, I began begging God to send me to hell if this is what heaven would be like. Most unfortunately, I wasn’t alone in my plight.

The Canaanites would set aside the priests of their clans to impregnate chosen women in the group as a sacrifice to their gods. They also worshiped Asherah, a female fertility goddess, and offered her libations in hopes of gaining her favor so they could become pregnant.

As for Moloch, people would place wood in the bottom chambers of the god and light it afire. As soon as he had been heated through, worshipers would place their firborns in the arms of the god for a sacrifice. On the outskirts of the worship area, loud music would be played to drown out the screams of the child.
