Mormon E-mails

I thought I’d post an e-mail I received this morning because it reminded me of the posts we found on the website that wasn’t fond of Melissa’s article.

I’m thinking the theme of General Conference must’ve been on the supposed fear of ex-Mormons.

Here’s the e-mail and my response afterwards.  Remember to pray!

Fear is an awful thing sorry you let someone get into your head.  I imagine that a few used judas as an excuse to leave the early church.  We’re you asked to live polygamy.  Read the accounts of those that did.  Ya hardest thing they ever did, oh Abraham, Moses, and Jacob they were bad too?  Or just Joseph and Brigham? 11 out of 12 tribes never got the priesthood for thousands of years.  But blacks except for the ones that Joseph ordained were a victim of hate?  Or timing or what?  If a person even touched the Ark of the covenant he died, but we should throw the doors of the temple open to nonbelievers so they can mock and ridicule us.  The same type of people accused the savior of having a devil and working by the power of the devil.  Sorry you lost your nerve.  Even Peter gave in to peer pressure and denied the Christ with whom he walked daily.  It isn’t an easy religion.  It has it’s crosses to bear.

Paul was a murderer who delivered up Christians to the authorities, but I’m sure that was just his way of trying to help the poor confused faithful.  He had a vision learned the truth spent his life trying to keep the church from falling into apostasy.   You have not discovered something new you have just settled for something old an comfortable.  You hate the prophets of the latter days.  I’m sure you would have had a much easier time with the dead ones.  They never did stuff people thought was wacky.  Facing a snake on a pole.  Probably real mainstream stuff.  Killing small animals to remove the penalty of sin.  Be baptized  in water to get into heaven.  Wacky stuff but that was ok you would have understood that.

The apostles new they had been in the presence of Christ because their hearts burned, how gullible to take stalk in that.

I am truly sorry, but just remember just because you changed your mind once doesn’t mean you haven’t made a mistake in this new course.  You aren’t the first or the last to waste your life kicking against the pricks.

 Dean –

Hi, my name is Michelle Grim.  I wanted to thank you for writing to us here at Life After Ministries and let you know we’re praying for you!

You may think I live in fear, but I have to tell you the fear subsided once I left the Church and accepted the Lord.

As far as polygamy goes maybe you haven’t read the account of where God told Abram to get Hagar out of the fold.  If you recall, it wasn’t God that told Abram to practice polygamy, it was Sarai. Gen. 16:1-3.

You also mentioned Jacob so let’s take a look at that.  Remember Leah and Rachel were sisters (God by the way later mandated that you not marry sisters, Lev. 18:18 but the Mormon prophets and leaders did that all the time).

As for your large paragraph about Paul murdering people, Moses, and killing small animals…I’m not real sure what you meant by all that. Your message isn’t clear.  I don’t know why you’d be surprised I don’t have a problem with what’s in the Bible.

What I have a problem with is when someone comes along calling himself a prophet and those prophecies don’t come true. Or when the prophet speaks out against the Bible and God. When someone who calls themselves a prophet says that ALL of Christianity is the whore of Babylon therein lies a problem.  And it’s not just with me or maybe you hadn’t noticed that either.

Where in the Bible does it say that it’s okay to hate your “enemies”?  Are we the enemy because we preach and talk of Jesus?

You see there’s a little confusion going on with the Mormon community and those of us who have ministries for Mormons.

We’re not anti-Mormons.  Anti-Mormonism yes, anti-Mormon, no.  We emphatically deny that we hate Mormons.  That is not why I or any of the other ministries do what we do!  On the contrary we love them deeply and we know with all certainty God has called us to this place.

And more importantly Dean, we know with all our being that Jesus loves you. John 3:16 is meant for you Dean, not just everyone else. He paid the ultimate price by dying on that cross for every sin you’ll ever commit.

John 15:13; Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

If Jesus had paid the price for sins in the Garden of Gethsemane then He lied in John 15:13.

He didn’t pay for some of your sins in the Garden of Gethsemane, rather He paid for all of them on the altar of the Cross at Calvary.

We don’t rely upon feelings Dean. We rely upon what God has told us to do as His children. Our feelings are arbitrary and obviously subjective to what we want, not what God has called holy and/or righteous.

Sometimes my feelings are anger at the guy who may have cut me off in traffic and I know from His word this is wrong. We aren’t to feel anger because Jesus told us in His word this behavior means we’re in danger of hell fire.  And then we have the prophet Jeremiah who warned us and the Israelites that feelings of the heart aren’t to be trusted – Jeremiah 17:9.

Relying upon feelings leaves us empty especially if there’s a new prophecy from your leader that is in complete opposition to what you’ve always been raised and taught to believe. Having a rug yanked out from under you isn’t the work of God, but man.  If we rely upon the works of man or the teachings of man and they see fit to change then what have you believed all those years and what can you hang your hat on at the end of your life?

God never changes – He always stays the same regardless of what man thinks or does. Case in point with the Church is polygamy and the race issue.  Two of the major points in Mormonism were done away with.

Not to mention the changes to the temple ceremony rituals.  Gone are the oaths of slitting your own throat and gone is the idea that if your sins are bad enough your own blood must atone.  Do you believe this today?

Tell me Dean, if you died today would you go to heaven? Do you have the absolute assurance you’d be with God today if you died?

Just a few more questions for you –

If they brought back polygamy today what would you do?

If they reinstated the ban on blacks what would you do?

Why do Mormon scriptures still say black people are cursed if they’re now allowed in the Church?

Why do Mormon scriptures still say that polygamy is needed to achieve a full salvation? How does this make you feel?  If you’re relying upon feelings certainly you’ll have an emotional response right?  According to D&C 132 you can’t become a god without having more than one wife and if you can’t become a god you can’t receive a full salvation.  So now what?

And finally Dean –

What are your thoughts on Deuteronomy 18:20-22?

“But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.

21 And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?

22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.”

Know that we’re praying for you Dean and hope to hear from you again.

And by the way in response to your subject line…

When someone says they’re speaking for God it better be right and they can print whatever they want, you’re right, it doesn’t make it right.  When God speaks and we find it in His word – it’s ALWAYS right and it’s always a fact.

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
