Mormon Dilemma 95

Jesus Appointed as Savior Contested

Abraham 3:27-28; And the Lord said: Whom shall I send? And one answered like unto the Son of Man: Here am I, send me. And another answered and said: Here am I, send me. And the Lord said: I will send the first.  28 And the second was angry, and kept not his first estate; and, at that day, many followed after him.

Matthew 24:24; For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Interestingly enough (and sadly true) the Mormons will tell you in this passage that Satan wanted everyone to be saved.  Isn’t that what they’re doing now inside their temples being baptized for all the dead people so they can be saved?

Interestingly enough, this passage has very little to do with Satan wanting everyone to be saved. What Satan wanted was to take the authority of God, and he was using the promise of free salvation in an attempt to persuade others to help him take it. This had nothing to do with our salvation, but with his thirst for power.
And if you want to actually show this effectively, use the references from the Book of Moses. The Abraham account says nothing concerning his motivation.

And just for the record, the work for the dead in the Temple does not guarantee salvation for anyone. They still have to accept it, and so many who have their work done will not be saved in the Celestial Kingdom. All we are doing is giving them the option of accepting it since they hadn’t received that option before.
