Mormon Dilemma 240

Miracle of the Bible

Ensign, May 2007, pg. 82; Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe that “all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable” (2 Timothy 3:16). We love the Bible and other scriptures. That may be surprising to some who may not be aware of our belief in the Bible as the revealed word of God. It is one of the pillars of our faith…We do not criticize or belittle anyone’s beliefs…And those who think that members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints do not believe in Jesus Christ or in the Bible should take time to understand the Church, the significance of its name, and the power of its message…I am puzzled by any who would question this Church’s belief in the Bible and our position as Christians. The name of the Church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In our last general conference, here in this building, our Church leaders quoted from the Bible nearly 200 times. This Church is organized and functions like the Church that Christ and His Apostles established in the New Testament. Seated on the stand today are the prophet and the apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I bear solemn witness that we are true and full believers in the Lord Jesus Christ and in His revealed word through the Holy Bible. We not only believe the Bible—we strive to follow its precepts and to teach its message.” – M. Russell Ballard

1 John 3:14-15; We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. 15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

I’m puzzled that this guy is confused why people think the Mormons don’t believe in the Bible.  His statement is a ruse to start talking about another lie.

Hey Christopher – The ruse being put forth in the statement above is that they (the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or Mormons) only believe the Bible as far as it is translated correctly. They believe their “Book of Mormon” to be the most perfect book ever written, but the Bible has been “chopped up”, mistranslated, purposely changed, and manipulated by the Catholic church to the point that “many great and marvelous truths about the Gospel of Christ have been removed from the text”. In other words, when there is a Mormon doctrine that is not found in the Bible, they claim it was removed by the apostate “Christian” church. Joseph Smith (founder of Mormonism) even attempted to “translate” the Bible “correctly” (known to Mormons as the Joseph Smith Translation or JST) where he acctually inserted himself into the book of Genesis. Then they will take one verse out of context from the Bible and build a whole doctrine around it… (Baptism for the dead… I Cor. 15:29)

See, the Mormon church’s official stance and doctrine is that if you are not a member of the Mormon church, you are not a True Christian. They claim that all Christian denominations are apostate (that the church fell away from the Truth soon after the Apostles died out). They claim that Catholics and Protestants are the “whore of Bablyon” mentioned in Revelation and that our Baptism and Lord’s Supper highly offends God because we have no authority to perform them.

The continuation of that ruse which leads to the lie is that the Mormon writer claims they have the church that was established by Jesus,

“This Church is organized and functions like the Church that Christ and His Apostles established in the New Testament. Seated on the stand today are the prophet and the apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ”.

The church does have a thin veneer of Christianity to it, in name and outward appearance, but dig deeper into the founders and the hidden teachings and you will find a paganistic blasphemous false religion. What is considered a “psuedo-Christian cult” by Biblical Christianity standards. They can claim Jesus as their Savior, but their Jesus is the spirit brother of Lucifer and was born to a Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother in “Heaven”. That He had to “work out His salvation” here on earth and since Jesus lived a sinless life, it is in our power to live sinless lives as well.

They can have all the names for different offices within the church mentioned in the New Testament, but have a skewed definition of them. A Deacon in the Mormon Church becomes a Deacon when they turn 12 years old. They are tasked with keeping the church clean and passing out the communion or what they call the sacrament. (bread and water for the Lord’s Supper)

Thank you for a concise and easy-to-understand, basic definition/difference to share with others.
