Mormon Dilemma 199

Families are Forever – Really?

“In “The Family: A Proclamation to the World,” the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles proclaim that “marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator’s plan for eternal destiny of His children.” When a man and woman are married in the temple, their family can be together forever. This is a common goal of Latter-day Saints…The covenant of eternal marriage is necessary for exaltation….After receiving the sealing ordinance and making sacred covenants in the temple, a couple must continue in faithfulness in order to receive the blessings of eternal marriage and exaltation.”

Ephesians 5:31; “For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.”

Mark 12:25; “For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.” – (Please read the entire passage of this exchange between the Pharisees and Jesus in Mark 12:19-27)

Luke 21:34-36; “34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. 35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”

John 3:16; “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

James 4:13-16; “13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: 14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. 15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. 16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.”

The first two verses listed today are to give a biblical answer as to why the Mormon god’s plan of salvation is wrong. Jesus clearly told us that there are no marriages in heaven. There will be no sex, no nine month pregnancies, no polygamy, no babysitting your sister wives kids…oh what a dream for me!!!  I’m not kidding.  I’m dead serious. Notice how the Church doesn’t give you the whole story. It says when “a man and woman”…the truth is that polygamous spiritual marriages still take place in the temple even today.

A male Mormon can be married to a woman here on earth and have that marriage sealed for eternity in the temple and still be married to other women in the temple for eternity as well. He doesn’t have to be married to them here on earth, but they go through the ceremonies in the temple so they can lay claim to that woman in the hereafter. Notice in Ephesians where it said “wife”, meaning singular. No sister wives, no other wives; just one guy and one gal. That’s it, no one else!

The other three verses are my answer to the Mormon god’s “plan of salvation”.

The Bible is a story of God’s interaction with His creation. From the time He spoke heaven and earth into existence till the very last day of whatever He is doing is His “plan of salvation”. To encapsulate His plan into one or two paragraphs of what Joseph Smith declared is nonsense. I truly believe Joseph Smith was obsessed and not in a good way. I don’t say that lightly or with vindictiveness.

I’ve lived with mentally ill people and they have my complete attention as well as sympathy.  With that being said, I believe Smith was deranged and obsessed with what was just below his belt and the high he got from those who believed his lies.  I don’t want to come across that I feel I’m better than he is or any other Mormon for that matter. It is but for the grace of God go I…

Back to God…His story and His plan is from creation to the end. He sent His Son to die for you and me. He has given us a book guiding us through the perils of what we will encounter in this life and loves us enough that He’s preserved it so we can glean from it and live safely.  How I lived those first thirty years without it is nothing short of a miracle. Then on top of all that He gave us His Spirit which lives INSIDE of each believer, never to leave or forsake us even when we mess up!

The passage in James should give us all pause. The older we get the faster time flies by. How much of your day will be spent worrying if you’ve done enough to get into heaven versus rejoicing in His presence?  I personally know He’s given me so much so how could I possibly want for more? To me it’s a sin to think there’s something more I can do as this isn’t living in the peace He’s already ORDAINED for us to live in! Psalm 29:11; “The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.” That is Jehovah my friends, the very Jehovah Mormons tell everyone is Jesus.

If you need to be on any highway of doing things my dear Mormon friend, go to Isaiah 35 and you’ll find the Highway of Holiness just waiting for you!

I read this yesterday- here is a 6th generation mormon who is a ‘guide’ to Mormonism on About.com. She sure could use your help! I do agree with your assessment of Joseph Smith and have thought that myself.
    Excellent post!
