God; Knowing He Exists

Discourses of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg 32; “There are but a very few beings in the world who understand rightly the character of God. The great majority of mankind do not comprehend anything, either that which is past, or that which is to come, as it respects their relationship to God. They do not know, neither do they understand the nature of that relationship; and consequently they know but little above the beast, or more than to eat, drink and sleep. This is all man knows about God or his existence, unless it is given by the inspiration of the Almighty”.

Romans 1:19-20; “Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse”.

Jeremiah 31:33; “But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people”.

We are born knowing God exists. It’s up to us as His creation to find out who He is. He intercedes throughout each life to manifest Himself, but some of us choose to ignore and turn our backs to Him.

The sad part of the Mormon story here is how those in leadership positions in the LDS Church choose to tear man down while exalting themselves. Imagine having this type of diatribe fed to you from birth up several times a week and what it does to your personality after a few years.

The end result is someone who is filled with pride believing they’re better than everyone else while holding onto some special knowledge that no one else has. When in fact, God has endowed each person with the knowledge that He does exist and He’s there for us.
