Missionaries on Facebook!?

05 February

John 8:32; “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

‘Well, if that don’t beat all’, was my first thought when I read the headlines on KUTV.com.

It’s not often news coming out of Salt Lake gives me pause. This time around I was rather surprised at what they’re allowing missionaries to do, albeit, they’re still very controlling.

I can’t help but wonder if the Church has knowingly put a nail in their own coffin.

KUTV.com ran an article on missionaries being  on Facebook. They got wind of this through MormonLeaks, founded by Ryan McKnight, which was presented in a two page PDF.

In September, the LDS Church sent missionaries a set of guidelines for using Facebook while serving their two year mission. Originally this was set up as a pilot program for a select few, but they’re expecting it to expand in the near future. Some of the rules?

You have to –

“…sit or stand so that you and your companion can see each other’s screen when using devices.”

“…use profile pictures of themselves in missionary attire, including the name badge, but to use their names without the title of elder or sister…”

Question about the last one – doesn’t their name badge include the title of ‘elder’, or ‘sister’? This is typical Mormon commando style of trying to control every thought, and movement of its members.

If they think that’ll work for all missionaries, they’re in for a rude awakening. Years ago I was at my local library with my daughters, and noticed two missionaries huddled in a corner trying to be discreet. I went up behind them, and noticed they were actually on Life After’s website. Oh, the irony!

For more info on missionaries and Facebook, you can read the entire story at KUTV.com.

Pray with us that this will continue to open the floodgates of information about true Mormonism, and more importantly the One True God of the Bible!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
