Mary- The Greatest Female Spirit

16 July

Mortal Messiah 1:326-327 “Can we speak too highly of her whom the Lord has blessed above all women? There was only one Christ, and there is only one Mary. Each was noble and great in preexistence, and each was foreordained to the ministry he or she performed. We cannot but think that the Father would choose the greatest female spirit to be the mother of His Son, even as he chose the male spirit unto him to be the Savior.” – Bruce R. McConkie

Luke 1:28 “And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.”

Joseph Smith, Jr. built an entire religion on the back of his dislike of all organized religions, but especially the Catholic Church, and their many unorthodox tenets. One of the more heretical of those being the veneration of the Virgin Mary.

To that end, it seems odd anyone in their leadership would go to such lengths in honoring her. With the false doctrines of the pre-existence, and their belief of Jesus aside, let’s briefly look at what Luke 1:28 says regarding Mary’s position in the eyes of God.

1.There’s nothing in the text giving indication Mary was nothing more than God’s chosen vessel in which to bring His Son into the world.

2.She’s not to be worshiped, nor venerated.

3.To be highly favoured simply meant to endue with special honor, or to be accepted. The term is found only one other time in scripture – Ephesians 1:6 – when Paul greeted the saints in Ephesus by telling them they were all accepted by Him. See Forerunner Commentary.

This is another example of how the Church contradicts itself, proving it cannot be trusted.

Pray for those who are subjected to McConkie’s works in their Sunday school, University, and Seminary classes!

With Love in Christ;
