1 Corinthians 8:4-6; “As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one. 5 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) 6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.”

mormon-plan-of-salvationBuilding an Eternal Marriage Teacher Manual;“Elder Bruce R. McConkie, who was then a member of the Seventy, taught:

“From the moment of birth into mortality to the time we are married in the temple, everything we have in the whole gospel system is to prepare and qualify us to enter that holy order of matrimony which makes us husband and wife in this life and in the world to come.

“Thus celestial marriage is the crowning ordinance of the gospel. … Thus the family unit is the most important organization in time or in eternity.

“And thus we should have more interest in and concern for our families than for anything else in life. …

“There is nothing in this world as important as the creation and perfection of family units” (in Conference Report, Apr. 1970, 27).”

There have been times when my heart has sunk upon reading some of the doctrines in this church, and today is obviously  one of those times.

Simply put, there’s no way to quantify how awful this LDS doctrine is. How can anyone calling themselves a Christian declare there is anything more important than Christ Jesus and Him crucified?

Why is having a spouse and children more important than what the Son of God did on the cross at Calvary?

Where in the Bible does it say the institution of marriage holds more significance than being a member of the bride of Christ?

Who changed the rules? Specifically, who declared marriage as a mandate for salvation?

When was the crowning event in all of history changed from God crucifying His own Son for our deplorable sin, to mankind needing a marriage certificate?

How does marriage take away the stain of sin?

What does marriage and kids have to do with God’s redemption of mankind?

If you’re LDS what are your thoughts on the questions we’ve asked today?

Do you think God will forgive your sins if you’re married?
