Lies on Mormon Newsroom Site

stickman-thinking-3Why?

I think this is the one question I’ve asked and been asked more times than any other question in my 20+ years of experience in ministry.

It doesn’t matter what topic you choose within Mormonism to discuss or explore – that one question always makes an appearance. And I do mean always. Today’s example is no different.

Just yesterday Kirk and I were having a conversation with a friend of ours and I telling Eric about the time I was staring out a window that overlooked our backyard. I was still Mormon at the time and I was begging God to send me to hell if it meant I had to have babies in heaven on another planet someplace. At the time I was at an awful spiritual dead end.

I was pregnant with my 7th child (the 3rd in the past 4 years at that time) and I was incredibly sick and beyond exhausted.  I was 28 years old and had been pregnant for more years than not in the previous 10 years. The outlook of being in the Celestial Kingdom with a husband just to produce and fill up space on another planet wasn’t looking all the great to me.

I didn’t know a lot about Jesus or the Bible at that time, but I knew for sure what my heritage had instilled in me.  I was a 6th generation Utah Mormon and I knew what was expected of females and I also knew I wasn’t all that happy about living up to the standards of my family back home.

Articles of Faith, pg. 402; “Grand as may seem the achievements of a man who is truly great, the culmination of his glorious career lies in his leaving posterity to continue, and enhance the triumphs of their sire. And if such be true of mortals with respect to the things of earth, transcendently greater is the power of eternal increase, as viewed in the light of revealed truth concerning the unending progression of the future state. Truly the apostle was wise when he said: “Neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.”” – James Talmage

The other thing I was sure of was that I couldn’t just keep having babies and although I didn’t know the Bible very well I didn’t recall anything in it that said I had to do so. As a matter of fact, if you’re reading this and you’re LDS I want to assure you this isn’t God’s plan for your life. The Bible tells us it’s not through our righteousness, but the mercy of God that we’re found worthy.

Titus 3:4-7; “But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, 5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; 7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”

The Mormon utopia is to live on another planet within a polygamous family scenario to reproduce spirit babies – and that means into eternity. This is nothing new to any Mormon, and in fact, has been its mantra since the days of Joseph Smith.

Journal of Discourses 2:346; “One world has a personal God or Father, and the inhabitants thereof worship the attributes of that God, another world has another, and they worship His attributes, and besides Him there is no other; and when they worship Him they are at the same time worshipping the same attributes that dwell in all the personal Gods who fill immensity.” – Orson Pratt, February 18, 1855, Salt Lake City

Lest I digress, going back to our subject matter today…

Why…

Why doesn’t the Church have it in them to tell the truth? Let’s look at what they have to say about their beliefs of mankind becoming gods on another planet. I found this piece of nefarious information on their Newsroom Website earlier today and it was a good thing I was sitting down.

Do Latter-day Saints believe that they will “get their own planet”?

No. This idea is not taught in Latter-day Saint scripture, nor is it a doctrine of the Church. This misunderstanding stems from speculative comments unreflective of scriptural doctrine. Mormons believe that we are all sons and daughters of God and that all of us have the potential to grow during and after this life to become like our Heavenly Father (see Romans 8:16-17). The Church does not and has never purported to fully understand the specifics of Christ’s statement that “in my Father’s house are many mansions” (John 14:2).”

Again, we have to ask why…

Why do they go out of their way to lie?

Here’s our comment on what they had to say not all that long ago when they changed their ‘Gospel Topics’ section on their website.

We’re asking that Christians hit their knees and pray hard! Pray that God opens the eyes and hearts of every Mormon to the blatant deception their church displays. It seems the Church’s outrageous behavior ebbs and flows over time. As of late, their less-than-stellar behavior seems to be rather daring in how openly deceptive they are.

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
