LDS: Strengthen Testimonies by Trying to Believe

03 August

New Era, ‘How do I strengthen my testimony by bearing it when I have such a hard time being in front of people?,’ March 2019

“President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, then-Second Counselor in the First Presidency, gave four suggestions on how to strengthen your testimony:

  1. Search the word of God.
  2. “Fearlessly strive to believe.
  3. “Ask with a sincere heart and with real intent, having faith in Christ.
  4. “Put gospel doctrine and Church teachings to the test in your own life.”

Remember: “The process of gathering spiritual light is the quest of a lifetime.”

From President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, then-Second Counselor in the First Presidency, “Receiving a Testimony of Light and Truth,” Oct. 2014 general conference.”

2 Timothy 1:12 “For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.”

These so-called inspired leaders of this church have made things so cumbersome!

Why must one ‘strive’ to believe? Either you believe their story, or you don’t.

Asking with a ‘sincere heart’ in Mormonism requires your total allegiance to them, or you’re not one of them. Their idea of sincere is sincerely warped.

I can be sincere when I pray about the Book of Mormon, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t try hard enough if I came to a different conclusion than they expected. In their world they’ve set up a fail-proof system. The problem is that it doesn’t work that way in the real world.

Countless people have done what Mr. Uchtdorf advised the kids to do in their latest New Era Magazine, and the results weren’t all that great. People either leave, or don’t join the Church – PTL!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
