LDS: Joseph Smith Helped Jesus Open Doors of Salvation

Joseph Smith and the Messiah: Prophetically Linked “Prophets Aid in Redemption … These three prophets, Joseph of Egypt, Moses, and Joseph of the latter days, are linked to the Savior by their work in helping to redeem His children … Joseph of Egypt helped bring…salvation to his family who fled the famine in Canaan…Moses helped bring…salvation to the children of Israel by leading them out of bondage in Egypt…Likewise, the latter–day Joseph “in the Spirit of power” brought Israel “out of darkness into light . . . and out of captivity unto freedom…” — RoseAnn Brown, 2002

Deuteronomy 13:1-3 “If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, 2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; 3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the Lord your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.”

As an FYI, our LDS reference today comes from BYU’s Religious Studies Center; the research and publication arm of the institution. At one time Ms. Brown was on staff at BYU as a professor of Ancient Studies, and a coach on the male swim team.

The excerpt above comes from a lengthy 2002 article she wrote on how Joseph Smith fulfilled God’s prophetic promises found in the OT.

As you might imagine, we could spend a month of Sundays disseminating her false presumptions. Overall, what shocked us was the brazen assertions on how Smith fulfilled prophecies of OT prophets such as Malachi, Isaiah, and Jeremiah.

Moving forward, we’re looking at just two statements Ms. Brown made, and in so doing, we pray Mormons will compare those lies to what God has said in His word!

  1. ‘Prophets Aid in Redemption … These three prophets, Joseph of Egypt, Moses, and Joseph of the latter days, are linked to the Savior by their work in helping to redeem His children…’

Stating the work of mere men aided the Savior in their redemption is false. Since when has the Creator of the Universe ever needed help? The God of the Bible is a Sovereign God which by definition means He acts autonomously (He governs Himself). Acts 17:24-27.

  1. ‘…the latter–day Joseph “in the Spirit of power” brought Israel out of darkness into light . . . and out of captivity unto freedom…’

Wrong! By instituting ‘gospel ordinances’, Smith has forsaken the blood Christ shed on the cross by leading the Saints to worship a false god who demands sacrifices. Moreover, His word tells us that He guides, and instructs us while giving us the direction in which we should go. Psalm 32:8.

This is a false god whom Joe Smith conjured up in his own mind. His god has nothing to do with the God of the Bible who is Christ Jesus.

As another heads up, Ms. Brown also authored a book released in 2017 comparing Alexander Campbell with Joseph Smith. As her published works make their way through the system, remember to pray for those who’ve read them, and for her salvation as well. It’s obvious that she’s a devoted person to their cause, making it all the more tragic.

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
