LDS General Conference Talk Summaries, Necromancy and a False Jesus

11 April

Today we’re looking at a couple of the talks given at General Conference in April 2018.

Before we begin…first things first…

The numbers we’ve allotted to each talk is purely for our own references in the series, and isn’t meant to describe the order in which each talk was given at conference. We’ve noticed in past articles Mormons are getting hung up on peripheral things, instead of focusing on the subject matter at hand.

We’re tagging these two talks as #2, and #3. Yesterday’s posting would be #1 based on the fact it’s the first talk summary we looked at for conference. Moving forward, here we go!

Talk #2

Saturday Afternoon Session

General Conference, ‘Family History and Temple Work: Sealing and Healing,’ April 2018

Mr. Dale Renlund told Mormons that ‘temple work not only blesses them’, but their dead relatives  too. We’re wondering if this is true, why God contradicted Himself? There are numerous times where the Lord has said just the opposite of what Mormonism proclaims. Here’s a few examples to share with the Mormon you know –

Hebrews 9:27 – Man dies once and then comes judgment.

1 Timothy 2:5 – There’s only ONE mediator between God and man; He is Jesus Christ.

Revelation 19:6 –  Only God is Omnipotent, and He alone has the power to forgive sin, and answer prayer. How could a dead person possibly do this if they’re not omnipotent?

Mr. Renlund continued deceiving LDS members by stating they have a ‘divinely appointed’ responsibility to seek out ancestors, and in doing so, there’d be ‘breathtaking’ blessings. This too, is directly the opposite of what God commanded in His word. 1 Chronicles 10:13-14 tells us Saul died because he turned away from God, and didn’t obey His commandments.

This man went on to enumerate eleven reasons why they should participate in temple works for dead people, aka, necromancy. A few of the more notorious reasons included:

‘Increased understanding of the Savior and His atoning sacrifice’

‘Increased love and appreciation for ancestors and living relatives, so we no longer feel alone’ ‘Increased protection from temptations and the intensifying influence of the adversary’

How can you gain a better understanding of Jesus while participating in Satan’s commands?

Furthermore, if you’re feeling alone it’s because you don’t have Jesus there with you! He told us that He’d never leave, nor desert us! John chapters 14-15.

You’ll notice there’s usually no mention of a Bible passage anywhere when the Church is trying to justify their temple activities. Talk to the Mormon you know, and ask why there’s no mention of Jesus’ salvation, or His omnipotent power to save us when we’re living.

Talk #3

Sunday Afternoon Session

General Conference, ‘Christ the Lord is Risen Today,’ April 2018

“This is Easter Sunday. I reverently witness and solemnly testify of the living Christ—He who “died, was buried, and rose again the third day.” … Gerrit Gong, LDS Apostle

The above headliner for a talk given on the morning of Easter Sunday caught my attention for a couple of reasons. One, because Mr. Gong is a new apostle, I haven’t read a lot of his talks yet. Two, I wanted to see what he had to say about Jesus.

Why I’m still surprised at the blasphemy is a lasting wonder for me. For some reason I keep thinking nothing else will shock me, yet I’m always wrong.

Mr. Gong’s short speech was filled with enough blasphemy to last a lifetime. We’re taking a quick look at what he said, and asking for Christians to please pray for those who listened to, and believed, this man’s words.

‘Everything worthy and eternal is centered in the living reality of God, our loving Eternal Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ, and His Atonement, witnessed by the Holy Ghost. This is Easter Sunday. I reverently witness and solemnly testify of the living Christ—He who “died, was buried, and rose again the third day, and ascended into heaven.” He is Alpha and Omega —with us in the beginning, He is with us to the end.’

1.How could the Mormon Holy Ghost witness the atonement of Jesus and his resurrection if he’s not omnipresent? Mormon doctrines tell us he can’t be in more than one place at a time.

Doctrines of Salvation 1:40; “As President Joseph F. Smith says: “He does not have to dwell with one constantly.” This man here, another one over there, and a man over in England, are confirmed members of the Church. The question arises, “How can the Holy Ghost be with them all at the same time?” He does not have to be, but the power of the Holy Ghost is such that it can be manifest in every place at the same moment of time.”.

2.The Godhead of the Bible tells us He is one God, not three gods, but one in purpose. Notice how Mr. Gong’s words are meant to mislead the unsuspecting. ‘Everything worthy and eternal is centered in the living reality of God, our loving Eternal Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ…’ This verbiage is a good example of how they use Christian terminology without explaining the truth – they are not Christians.

3.Notice the way he’s described Jesus as the Alpha and Omega. He said, ‘He is Alpha and Omega —with us in the beginning, He is with us to the end’. The biblical definition of ‘Alpha and Omega’ simply means ‘the beginning and the end’. It doesn’t come with the added phrase, ‘with us’. We were not with Jesus in the beginning. Only Jesus was present in the beginning!

Please, remember to pray for the Mormons who bought into this lie as well!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
