LDS: Fear Fills Minds of Apostates

02 April

Journal of Discourses 11:232 “In speaking about apostasy, it is a remarkable feature connected with it and with those who favor apostates and consort with them, that they are filled with the spirit of fear.” — George Quayle Cannon, Great Salt Lake City, May 6, 1866.

Matthew 10:28 “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”

To be sure, there is a an element of fear for many who leave Mormonism, however, as a new normal begins to settle in, any fear they may experience dissipates over time. This takes place as the new Christian solidifies their walk with Jesus, and becomes more focused on learning about Him, and less on the false ideologies of Mormonism.

A good thing to remember is what the apostle John said in his letter; ‘Greater is He in you, than he that is in the world’ 1 Jn. 4:4. Furthermore, true Christians know they have nothing to fear, and take solace in the Lord’s wise counsel.

Mr. Cannon’s words are a ruse to scare people. The more you enclose yourself with a body of believers who don’t want weigh all things (Acts 17:11), the more likely you are to be tricked. This produces a never ending saga of confusion and fear.

Continue to pray for those in Mormonism to leave! Your diligence in prayer, and witnessing is making a huge impact – PTL!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
