LDS 40th Anniversary Shows No Change in Racist Doctrines

18 May

Acts 17:26 “ And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation”.

Doctrine and Covenants Official Declaration—2;“…As we have witnessed the expansion of the work of the Lord over the earth, we have been grateful that people of many nations have responded to the message of the restored gospel, and have joined the Church in ever-increasing numbers. This, in turn, has inspired us with a desire to extend to every worthy member of the Church all of the privileges and blessings which the gospel affords.”

The first weekend of June 1978 afforded northern Utah a warm summer day. On that weekend night, (Saturday), I walked out on my grandmother’s porch to retrieve the evening paper.

The LDS prophet’s newest revelation, written in overly large letters, caught my 14 year old attention.

I opened up the folded front page to see what all it said as tears streamed down my face. It wasn’t so much that blacks were allowed into the priesthood, mind you. My reaction stemmed from concern on what else this god might do in the future. The weekend before sitting on that porch was spent at my other grandparent’s home for a funeral.

My great-grandfather had passed away and untold numbers of people were in attendance. My grandfather was raised in polygamy. Thoughts on why God had changed his mind about polygamy were still fresh in my mind on Saturday, June 6, 1978. Now here he was changing his mind again.

The idea God could change his mind at any time, and for any reason, frightened me. The race issue hadn’t even made the connection at that point, although it should have! The grandmother I was visiting when I read the headlines, came from a long line of black Welsh stock. All of us had black curly hair, dark skin, and dark eyes. The teachings of bad pre-mortal choices were emblazoned in my psyche from birth.

How could I trust a god that kept changing his mind? I had no idea God promised that He doesn’t change, because we had been taught not to trust the Bible. It had become a vicious cycle…

The Church celebrating the 40th anniversary of accepting blacks into the priesthood means nothing at this point. They keep showing many well posed images of people from all over the world, but their canon still reads the same. The black race is damned. Moses 7:22 clearly states the black man has no place among the good people who are white.

The wording in their declaration is suspicious as well. It said, ‘it inspired us…’ Inspired you? If God commands something, how is is inspired? You either obey, or you don’t. And in the Church’s typical fashion, they aren’t inspired enough to be obedient.

As late as 2008 they were still touting the same racist doctrines from the pulpit at BYU – and to kids, no less. See text at end of article.

Please, pray for all Mormons, or those thinking about joining, that they open their hearts to what Jesus has to say in His word!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle

Born White a Blessing

“To Confirm and Inform: A Blessing of Higher Education” March 11, 2008, BYU Devotional; “Have you ever wondered why you were born where and when you were born? Why you were not born 500 years ago in some primitive, aboriginal culture in some isolated corner of the world? Is the timing and placing of your birth capricious? For Latter-day Saints the answer is no. Fundamental to our faith is the understanding that before we came to this earth we lived in a premortal existence with a loving heavenly father. We further understand that in that premortal state we had agency. And that we grew and developed as we used that agency. Some, as Abraham learned, became noble and great ones.” – Terry B. Ball, Former Dean of Religious Education
