Joseph Smith’s Family of Gods

21 November

Yesterday we saw Russell Nelson proclaim his delight in Joe Smith’s insights regarding the Bible, and how they were ‘amazingly consistent’.

Today we’re wondering how Mr. Nelson would explain Smith’s false prophecy in calling God a liar…

The very foundation of Mormonism declares God’s word to be wrong, and therefore, all of Christianity has been worshiping the wrong God.

History of the Church 6:305-306 “It is necessary we should understand the character and being of God and how he came to be so; for I am going to tell you how God came to be God. We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see.

These are incomprehensible ideas to some, but they are simple. It is the first principle of the Gospel to know for a certainty the Character of God, and to know that we may converse with him as one man converses with another, and that he was once a man like us; yea, that God himself, the Father of us all, dwelt on an earth, the same as Jesus Christ himself did….

Here, then, is eternal life—to know the only wise and true God; and you have got to learn how to be gods yourselves, and to be kings and priests to God, the same as all gods have done before you, namely, by going from one small degree to another, and from a small capacity to a great one; from grace to grace, from exaltation to exaltation, until you attain to the resurrection of the dead, and are able to dwell in everlasting burnings, and to sit in glory, as do those who sit enthroned in everlasting power.” — Joseph Smith, April 1844

Isaiah 43:10-11 “Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, And my servant whom I have chosen:

That ye may know and believe me, And understand that I am he: Before me there was no God formed, Neither shall there be after me. 11  I, even I, am the Lord; And beside me there is no saviour.”

Isaiah 44:8 “Fear ye not, neither be afraid: Have not I told thee from that time, And have declared it?  ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? Yea, there is no God; I know not any.”

Isaiah 45:5-6 “I am the Lord, and there is none else, There is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: 6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, That there is none beside me. I am the Lord, and there is none else.”

Isaiah 46:9 “Remember the former things of old: For I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me.”

So just how does Mr. Nelson explain the four biblical passages above? There doesn’t seem to be any wiggle room in rationalizing there’s a family of gods somewhere.

We’re praying Mormons will wake up to the inconsistencies that began with none other than Joe Smith! Nelson has willingly placed himself into the long list of false prophets who’ve roamed this earth.

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
