Joe Smith’s Hatred for His Brother is Evident in Book of Mormon

06 March

2 Nephi 5:21-23; “And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them. 22 And thus saith the Lord God: I will cause that they shall be loathsome unto thy people, save they shall repent of their iniquities. 23 And cursed shall be the seed of him that mixeth with their seed; for they shall be cursed even with the same cursing. And the Lord spake it, and it was done.”

3 Nephi 2:14-15; “And those Lamanites who had united with the Nephites were numbered among the Nephites; And their curse was taken from them, and their skin became white like unto the Nephites…”

1 John 2:11; “But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.”

We received an e-mail this week reminding me of what it was like growing up in Utah Mormonism. While I’m not American Indian, or African American, I’m not exactly ‘white and delightsome’ either.

In the ‘60’s – ‘70’s MIA, Sunday school, and Sacrament Meetings were filled with lessons that I had forgotten what sin I had committed in the pre-existence when I rejected Jesus. When I got home, all I had to do was look in the mirror to be reminded again of my insurrection.

Complicating matters came in the form of not reading what God had to say in His word about those He created. Make no mistake, the Church purposefully steers members away from the Bible to keep the confusion in place.

After I accepted the Lord there were a handful of Bible verses that immediately caught my attention, and one of those was 1 John 2:11. That verse and others like it in John’s 1st epistle, was a clear confirmation I had done the right thing in leaving my once beloved heritage.

Our e-mail today serves as another example Joe Smith was a racist man filled with hatred, and one of his intended targets was for those who weren’t ‘white and delightsome’. For privacy reasons, I’ve not included the name of the person who e-mailed us.

“I have an idea for your news letter. First John says one who hates his brother walks in darkness. I do not know the quotes, but Joseph Smith’s hate did spill over into the Book of Mormon — skin changing black and white. It seems to me if one like him were walking in darkness, then God would not use him as a prophet.

God Bless…”

That person is absolutely spot on in their analysis! Why would God use someone as a prophet if they hated other people? It breaks my heart for those who are still trapped in the menagerie of lies. Please, pray for the Lord Jesus to make them strong, and open their minds to the truth!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
