Romans 5:8; “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

For the next couple of days we’re pulling quick quotes from the last Mormon Conference to weigh against God’s word. Today we’re looking at D. Todd Christofferson’s speech ‘Abide in My Love’.

If you’re a Christian, do you recall the first time you laid eyes on Paul’s words in Romans 5:8?  I know I do, and it might be because I was still clearing out the cobwebs of Mormonism in that head of mine. Be that as it may, Paul’s treatise to the Roman Christians is one of the most endearing gifts we have in this life.

Mr. Christofferson’s lies also remind me of the time when the bishop and local missionaries sat in my living room trying to talk me into coming back into their fold. In one of our discussions, the bishop pointed out to me the word ‘Trinity’ is nowhere in the Bible.

Being a brand new Christian, and freshly out of my 30 years in Mormonism, his words were intimidating because I was familiar enough with the Bible at that point to recite even a handful of scriptures to refute his claim. As I soon learned, he was correct. The Latin word ‘Trinity’ is nowhere to be found in the Bible, but it’s merely a word to describe the Deity of God. Looking back, I’m sure the bishop was fully aware of this.

Mr. Christofferson’s comment the word ‘unconditional’ is nowhere to be found is a ruse to detract attention away from truth. This is something they do to trick members into believing Jesus doesn’t save us!

By the Mormon apostle’s standards, Jesus would never have the ability to save anyone. They can convince people this is the way He works because of the previous lies the Mormon people have bought into. When you believe man doesn’t have a sin nature, you’re likely to believe anything.

Food for Thought…

Lastly, while Mr. Christofferson was busy quoting from their beloved Book of Mormon, one shouldn’t forget the Church’s announcement that the BoM isn’t historical.

Now if the Church had claimed for years that it was a true account of the American Indians, and now it’s not, why should one place their eternal soul into the hands of a man who said Jesus can’t save people in their sins?

If this is true, why did Jesus come here and die?
