In Memory of the Mountain Meadows Massacre Victims 2018

This year, 2015, marks the 158th ‘anniversary’ of a tragedy in Utah history I’m sure Mormons would rather forget. If you’re unfamiliar with the event, you can read about it in an article on our front page you can access here.

Today we’re asking Christians to pray that Mormons will be aware of this ugly scar on their church’s history, and question why this happened.

Why would a so-called man of God, aka prophet, and the leader of a huge church,, order the slaughter of innocent people (Christians and children at that)?

This is but one of the very questionable events Brigham Young either orchestrated, or condoned when he was in power over the LDS Church.

The purpose in bringing this up isn’t to sensationalize this horrific tragedy, rather it’s to prompt Mormons of today to think about the actions of the leader they put so much emphasis on. Residents of Utah have named universities, other schools, and cities, and even their own kids after this guy so he obviously holds a prominent place in their culture.

We’re praying they accept all of Brigham’s history, and not just a selected version of what makes them feel good. After all, I can’t imagine the events of Mountain Meadows producing a feel good memory for anyone.

With Love in Christ;
