If Christians are anti-Mormon, are Mormons Anti-Christian?

If Christians are anti-Mormon, are Mormons anti-Christian?

We posted this in 2012, and still haven’t seen anything from the Church denouncing the things they’ve taught on their feelings about Christianity. Below is our original post –

I signed up for Google-Alerts a few years back so I could get a heads up on top Mormon issues every day.

Now every morning when I download e-mails I keep seeing reports throughout the world of “anti-Mormons” doing this or that and how they’re out to get those un-offending Mormon people.

We’re wondering…

Are the rules the same across the board? Mormons don’t approve of the Christian church and have spoken out vehemently against it, so wouldn’t that make them anti-Christian?

Keep in mind they still feel this way about Christianity, and have not apologized for past remarks from their leaders, nor have they embraced Christianity.

We speak out about Mormonism because we’re concerned about the spiritual welfare of the Mormon’s soul. We’re not bashing Mormons, and yet we’re called anti-Mormon.

Brigham’s Words are Scripture

Journal of Discourses 13:95 “I have never yet preached a sermon and sent it out to the children of men, that they may not call Scripture.” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, January 2, 1870

Christianity Corrupt as Hell

Journal of Discourses 6:167 “There is not nation now that acknowledges that hand of God; there is not a king, potentate, nor ruler that acknowledges his jurisdiction. We talk about Christianity, but it is a perfect pack of nonsense. Men talk about civilization; but I do not want to say much about that, for I have seen enough of it. Myself and hundreds of the Elders around me have seen its pomp, parade, and glory; and what is it? It is a sounding brass and a tinkling symbol; it is as corrupt as hell; and the Devil could not invent a better engine to spread his work that the Christianity of the nineteenth century.” – John Taylor, 3rd President

Dark Minds of Christianity

D&C 112:23 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, darkness covereth the earth, and gross darkness the minds of the people, and all flesh has become corrupt before my face.” – Joseph Smith

Christian Churches

Journal of Discourses 6:176 “Brother Taylor has just said that the religions of the day were hatched in hell. The eggs were laid in hell, hatched on its borders, and then kicked on to the earth.” – Brigham Young

Christians are Pagans

Journal of Discourses 14:346 “This class of men, calling themselves Christian, uniting with the various forms of the pagan religion, adopting many of their ceremonies and institutions, became very popular, and finally some of the pagans embraced Christianity and were placed, as it were, upon the throne, and what they termed Christianity became very popular indeed. How long has this order of things existed, this dreadful apostacy, this class of people that pronounced themselves Zion, or Christians, without any of the characteristics of Zion? It has existed for some sixteen or seventeen centuries.” – Orson Pratt, Salt Lake City, March 10, 1872

No Christians on Earth

Journal of Discourses 2:196-197 “I do not wish to be understood that we are now living in a dark age of the world, but for the last fourteen hundred years the world have been enveloped in darkness, in which wickedness has ruled, and the powers of darkness have prevailed among the children of men, and the nations have been bound down by false traditions, and incorrect principles, but the day has now dawned, the dark clouds have now broken up and soon will pass away, and the sun of righteousness will arise in its glory, and show forth the light of heaven; and for that I am thankful” – Wilford Woodruff, 4th President/Prophet, Salt Lake City, February 25, 1855
