God is still in control!

12 October

As I’ve watched the news coverage from the presidential debates I’ve heard a lot about what people think will happen if Romney is elected or Obama is re-elected. I’ve read what people have said online and heard the comments others have made about their fears of what the next four years will hold for us if the other guy wins.

And you know what I’m not immune to this; I worry as well what the future will hold if either guy is in the oval office in January. As I see sin being more and more accepted, and the things God calls good being called evil (and vise versa) I worry. I think about what the future will be like for my family as I see politicians push God out of the way only to further their unrighteous agendas.

But before I let myself get too carried away with worry and fear I have to remember who’s the one really in control. I need to ask myself who’s the one who allows these men to become elected and to rule over our country? And where is this worry coming from, because I know it’s not coming from the one who made me and saved me.

This morning I had a wonderful reminder as to who’s really in control of our country. Below is a post Kay Arthur made on her Facebook page. I wanted to share it with you in hopes that it will bring you some comfort has we get closer to electing our next President.

“It is He who changes the times and the epochs; He removes kings and establishes kings; He gives wisdom to wise men and knowledge to men of understanding.” – Daniel 2:21

God has complete control over the events of history, included in that is this year’s election. He determines when things will take place and how long each phase in history will last. God not only said when the fall and destruction of Jerusalem in 587 BC would take place – but also the exact number of years captivity would last. Both the President and Presidential candidates may believe they will attain power by their own means, but it is only by God’s choice that they are permitted their temporary authority. God may remove them from their position at any time and set someone else up in their place.” (Kay Arthur)
