Following the Prophet January 2015

22 January

1 Corinthians 2:14; “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”

Liahona January 2015 1A few weeks ago I noticed an article in the Church’s Newsroom announcements saying they broke a record for the number of times people downloaded talks for General Conferences. The reason it caught my attention is because I’ve seen a record number of downloads for our articles on this General Conference as well and then I began to wonder why…

Every talk they gave at this last conference (10/2014) was on the importance of following the prophet. Hmmm… is it any wonder that so many people would want to see these things for themselves? Perhaps they’re catching on to the Church’s attempt of trying to control them?

All of that led me to another LDS publication for the January 2015 Liahona. Again, the Church has emphasized the importance of following the prophet, complete with a game for the young people to interact with.

Directions for successfully navigating through the maze is filled with specific counsel of which turn you must make as every minutia of life is directed not by God, but the Church. As I read over their blasphemous directions, Moses and Joshua kept coming to mind.

As the baton of leadership passed from Moses to Joshua, obedience to what God said was the key element of their success when leading the Israelites into Canaan. Moses’ leadership skills  carried over to the next generation because he led the Israelites by God’s word and his diligence in providing a constant and direct lifeline to God; aka the Law. They weren’t Moses’ rules or a criteria that evolved as time went by because God’s word was solid then, just as it is today.

Regrettably, the Church pays no heed to what God says and have led their flock as far away from God as they could possibly be. Moses’ God is strikingly different than that of the Mormon god. To make it perfectly clear in the Bible, you’ll notice there are no admonitions telling people to follow or look to the prophets. The prophets always told people to look to God and be saved. The prophets served as a bullhorn for God, not vice versa as it is in Mormonism.

The LDS message this time around is obviously much of the same stuff we’ve heard in the past, but I wanted to point out a couple of the things they said so here we go –

‘If you want to see the light of heaven, if you want to feel the inspiration of Almighty God, if you want to have that feeling within your bosom that your Heavenly Father is guiding you, then follow the prophets of God. When you follow the prophets, you will be in safe territory.’

‘We have to make a lot of choices to get back to our Heavenly Father. We can make the best choices when we follow the prophet.’

‘Find your way through the maze. When you come to a decision, look to the prophet’s counsel!’

When and/or if you have an opportunity to share this with a Mormon do so straightaway! We’re called of God to witness, to proclaim truth and above all else, worship Him. We can do the latter through the former; witnessing.

The verse listed at the top of this page is the only biblical reference they used in their article and ironically, this verse couldn’t be more fitting.

With Love in Christ;
