Christianity Non-existent for Seventeen Centuries

Journal of Discourses 17:310; “Perhaps some may inquire—”Do you believe, then, that the Christian Church has been so overcome that it has not existed on the earth?” That is what we believe, that is one of the principles taught by this people during the last forty-four years of the existence of this Church.” – Orson Pratt, Salt Lake City, February 28, 1875

Matthew 28:18-20; “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 ¶ Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

All of Jesus’ instructions and promises to us in the Bible are vitally important and there isn’t one that supersedes the other.  With that in mind I have to say this particular passage for me is another proof that Joseph Smith was wrong.  Regrettably the lies continue and still more people are being tricked.

Why would Jesus tell the apostles and us these things from this passage?

1. Go and teach all nations

2.Teach them the commandments

3.He is with us always

4.He’s with us to the end of the world.

It’s not the end of the world so that means He’s with us and He was with all the Christians from the time of the apostles to the time He returns. The Christians who lived through those seventeen hundred years were not left as orphans, but held closely by the Father just as we are today. Praise His Holy Name!

Why would the apostles go out and preach to all nations if Christianity was going to fizzle out after a few years?

Why would God in all His righteousness condemn His Son to death if it would mean no one followed Him?

I’ve lost a child and I have to tell you that as a mere human the suffering in my heart from that loss leaves me speechless. Nothing compares to it.

So if I as a human could feel such intense grief, how much more would our Father go through with the death of His Only Son?

Christianity dying out just doesn’t make sense.
