False Prophecies of Joseph Smith

Jesus Bows to Adam

Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg. 157; Daniel in his seventh chapter speaks of the Ancient of Days; he means the oldest man, our Father Adam, Michael, he will call his children together and hold a council with them to prepare them for the coming of the Son of Man. He (Adam) is the father of the human family, and presides over the spirits of all men, and all that have had the keys must stand before him in this grand council…The Son of Man stands before him, and there is given him glory and dominion.  Adam delivers up his stewardship to Christ, that which was delivered to him as holding the keys of the universe, but retains his standing as head of the human family.

Philippians 2:10-11; That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Blasphemy, blasphemy, blasphemy.  Adam is not Michael, nor is he the Ancient of Days!  Jesus and Jesus only is the Ancient of Days!

    “Jesus Bows to Adam”

Joseph Smith is clearly teaching that Adam will bow before Christ, so your title is wrong.

Daniel 7: 13 “I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.”

Considering that “the Son of man” is a title of Christ, it seems odd that Christ would come to be brought before himself. I think Daniel makes it clear that the Ancient of Days is not Christ.

I think shematwater misses the point.

Does Adam preside over our spirits or doesn’t he? Does he have any “keys” or stewardship over any keys or anyone? No. This belief flows out of the false priesthood and false heirarchy brought to the world by Joseph Smith.

The Book of Hebrews makes it clear that Jesus holds a unique place as mediator. The role of priest as mediator in the Old Testament was done away with at the death of Jesus when the veil was torn. No longer would anyone stand between us and God. Through Christ we dwell in the presence of God. The LDS priesthood seeks to replace a mediation role reserved only for Jesus.

Regarding, Adam’s role in anything, Adam is a created being. He bows to Jesus for salvation, for life, for any power or authority he might have over the demonic. Adam gave away paradise. Jesus won it back. And those who place their trust in Jesus alone regain it.

Amen! Thank you Quinn for helping in our responses and to carry on this discussion!
I can’t begin to imagine believing in anything good about Adam’s fall or that Adam would have anything to do with the creation of the world, etc.
The amount of relief there is in knowing all the work is done and promises fulfilled in Jesus is beyond description. With God there is no confusion. We can be assured of our salvation. This is what hurts my heart for the Mormon people. Where is there any assurance of going to heaven and being with the Lord?
One thing I’ve noticed with Shem’s responses is how there hasn’t been one topic where he agrees with the revealed word of God. Always, there’s a different interpretation for everything. That must be tiring.
And for those of you watching the posts, let’s hear what you think as well!

    QUINN

What you might find surprising is that the majority of what you say the LDS and Joseph Smith would agree with.

Adam does bow down to Christ for his salvation, and Christ is the great mediator of the world, and it is through him that we all gain access to God.

I have never denied these facts, nor has Joseph Smith.

As to the priesthood, that is merely a matter of interpretation. As I read the Bible I see Peter, James, John, and the rest of the Apostles holding the Priesthood, as evidenced by the many accounts of them performing ordinances.
The simple fact that only a few had the authority to perform the ordinances shows a very hierarchical system within the church. Call it what you want, but it sure sounds like priesthood to me.

    LIFE

I accept all of God’s revealed word. What I do not accept is false interpretations of his word.

As to assurance, I have just as must as you. I know exactly where I will be going if I should die today. For anyone who truly understands the LDS doctrine the assurance of salvation is just as strong as for any other Christian.
