Don’t Question God, Don’t Question Brigham

WAKE UP, YE ELDERS OF ISRAEL, and live to God and none else; and learn to do as you are told, both old andsalt lake mormon temple 2 young; learn to do as you are told for the future. …Brother Brigham [Young] is my leader: he is my Prophet, my Seer, my Revelator; and whatever he says, that is for me to do; and it is not for me to question him one word, nor to question God a minute. Do you not see?” – Heber C. Kimball, Salt Lake City, November 8, 1857

Numbers 14:11; “And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have shewed among them?”

I’ve often asked the same thing our Lord asked the Israelites. While He obviously knew the answer to His own question, we’re not going to get an answer for ours on this side of heaven.

This is why we pray and witness. We mustn’t grow weary, or give up! If it weren’t for the kindness of Christians who cared about me, I wouldn’t be sitting here doing this work today!

Ask  your Mormon friend/loved one what they think of Mr. Kimball’s comment. Don’t ask with an accusatory tone, rather, use a tone of voice that will reflect the love and concern you have for them. Mormons have an uncanny ability to pick up on whether or not someone is patronizing, so be attentive to the way you deliver your question!

Is it reasonable to you not to question Brigham Young? What if you know with 100% certainty that he’s wrong?

Are you as a Christian, ready to walk away when you know someone/something is contradictory to what Jesus has already said?
