Day of the Lamanite is Nigh as They Turn White and Delightsome

16 August

General Conference, October 1960, p. 34; “The day of the Lamanites is nigh. For years they have been growing delightsome, and they are now becoming whiteand delightsome, as they were promised. …At one meeting a father and mother  and their sixteen-year-old daughter were present, the little member girl – sixteen – sitting between the dark father and mother, and it was evident she was several shades lighter than her parents…These young members of the Church are changing to whiteness and delightsomeness.” – Spencer W. Kimball

John 13:34; “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.”

Wow – where does one begin?

Because I like lists, let’s begin with a few questions and observations –

1.When I showed Kimball’s statement to my husband Kirk, he wanted to know why Kimball’s theory didn’t hold true for my family. Why am I darkerthan my mother?

2.Why isn’t the Church’s attention focused on the beauty of God’s creation, and His commandment to love one another? Why do they speak so negatively about God’s creation?

3.Using Jesus’ commandment in John 13:34 to love one another, the Apostle John described how early believers could know if someone was a true Christian. Without mincing words he laid it out in simple words, ensuring there’d be no misunderstandings of what God expected from His bride.

1 John 2:9; “He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.”

1 John 3:15; “Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.”

4.What does John’s admonition say about Mr. Kimball? These scriptures aren’t just cherry picked to slant the view in our favor, rather, these are all inclusive. If you don’t love other Christians in the body of Christ, it means you’re not a member!

This was another stark reminder to me early in my walk with Jesus there was something drastically wrong with Mormonism. The sting of my sin in hating non-Mormons (especially Christians), wasn’t lost when I read John’s epistle. Today I’m praising Him for wiping that ugly sin off my record! 2 Corinthians 5:7 says we have become new!

5.Moreover, and also worthy of consideration is this:

Did you know Shem, Ham, and Japheth are represented in the first Christian missions mentioned in the book of Acts? Collectively, this shows how God saves all of His children.

Now, if this doesn’t show how great our God is, nothing ever will! How cool is this?!?!

The Eunuch in Acts 8:27 represents the African continent (Ham) –

“And he [Philip] arose and went: and, behold,  a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship.”

Saul, later known as Paul, in Acts 9:1, 3 represents the Middle East (Shem) –

“And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, 3 And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven”.

Cornelius in Acts 10:1 represents the European continent (Japheth) –

“There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band”.
