Answers to Gospel Questions Joseph Fielding SmithAnswers to Gospel Questions 3:26; “COMPLETE WORTHINESS REQUIRED … …in the celestial kingdom, we must be worthy in every point, or we fail to receive the blessing. The kingdom of God must exist in absolute unity.Every law must be obeyed, and no member of the Church can have a place there unless he is in full accord. There came a rebellion once with disastrous results, and there had to be a cleansing.

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. (Matthew 5:48.)

And no unclean thing can enter into his kingdom; therefore nothing entereth into his rest save it be those who have washed their garments in my blood, because of their faith, and the repentance of all their sins, and their faithfulness unto the end. (III Nephi 27:19.)” – Joseph Fielding Smith

James 1:4; “But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”

The transliteration for ‘perfect’ is the Greek word, ‘teleios’, coming from the Greek word ‘telos’, meaning the end goal. More properly, and in its fullest sense, it’s the ‘point aimed at as a limit’, or the conclusion of your purpose. See Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary numbers 5046, and 5056 respectively. The goal is achieved only at the end of an entire lifetime of putting words into action.

It’s thought James and even Paul, used the Greek games as object lessons in their sermons and writings. People at that time would’ve quickly understood what James was talking about in his epistle as he was living in Jerusalem. Participants in the Grecian games were considered perfect when he got the victory in the pentathlon, having everything complete in each of the five games

Patience is a combination of knowledge of God’s word, and your holy behavior making everything about and in you, complete in Him. This is a lifelong process – the culmination of who  you are and what you’ve become. It’s been said that one definition of ‘perfect’ means you are God’s workmanship.

Although there’s no online publication of this particular volume (#3), there’s no shortage of its usage all over their website. We counted at least 100 articlesreferring to it.

Suicide in Utah

The Mormon definition, and the expectation of needing to be perfect for salvation, is a false understanding of what God’s word says. It’s no wonder the state of Utah has held some of the highest suicide rates in the nation. We’ve written about this extensively over the years, and have seen nothing but the overall situation go from bad to worse, with no end in sight. Suicide is the 7thleading cause of death overall in Utah, and 1st cause of death for people 10-19 yrs old. Nationally, the suicide rate is the 10th leading cause of death. In 2013 there were 579 suicides which equals out to 1 suicide every 15 hours.

This book and ‘gospel’ Mr. Smith was trying to sell is from Satan, not God! If you have the chance to talk about this with a Mormon, be sure to share the truth with them. Certainly ask if they know they have to be absolutely perfect to go to the Celestial Kingdom which means, Families are Forever. How will they spend eternity without their family if they’re not perfect?
