Baptism, Resurrection, Church: Circa 120 BC – Mormon Quotes

Mosiah 26:2; They did not believe what had been said concerning the resurrection of the dead, neither did they believe concerning the coming of Christ.  4 And they would not be baptized; neither would they join the church. And they were a separate people as to their faith, and remained so ever after, even in their carnal and sinful state; for they would not call upon the Lord their God.

1 Timothy 6:3-5If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

How could someone believe in Jesus, resurrection of the dead, be baptized and go to church in 120 BC?  Does this sound reasonable?
