Apostles, Twelve Nephite – Mormon Quotes

Latter-day Prophets & the D&C 1:101; After Jesus had been crucified and had ascended unto his Father, he visited his “other sheep” in America, known as the Nephites, and there chose twelve disciples and organized his Church, as he had done among the Jews, an account of which is given in some detail in Third Nephi of the Book of Mormon. [3 Nephi 15:11-24.] (A Marvelous Work and a Wonder, 1950, pp. 51-52.)

Isaiah 30:1-2Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin: 2 That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!

The Bible tells us that the “other sheep” are the Gentiles.  Why would Jesus be visiting with the Jews if He’d already told them everything?

There is some serious interpretation going on trying to connect that removed Isaiah quote to the lost sheep.

You could have been simple and used the Apostolic interpretation and criticized the Book of Mormon’s response and acknowledgement of that, but instead you rip things out of context and then provide not explanation for the alleged connection. Was going to spend time using this site for rebuttal-able material, but it would actually lower the standard of my writing. Thank you for not only insulting me and my Church, but for wasting my time.

How about this to make your head turn round. The word “Godhead.” I’ve heard many tell me that they don’t believe in any Godhead, but a singular God (which is a translation of a Hebrew plural masculine noun with it’s corresponding translation in Greek). Read Acts thoroughly or use a digital search for the word. We didn’t come up with our beliefs, we had them revealed to us. “Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness…”

Congratulations, I just ripped apart ever sentence on you page and you all have helped me set a record. Either tell me something extra-biblical to explain these two things, which I will promptly dismiss upon it’s probable failure to withstand testing, or tell me I’m not quoting scripture or pulling it out of context, and then read it for yourself.

I don’t mean to be confrontational, and I refuse to continue in contention. I have made my statement, albeit in anger, but I stand by it because it is true.

And by the way, the message, sacrifice, and atonement from the cross are not what we find ‘repugnant’; rather it is the Idolatry and thing-worship found in the Catholic Church and it’s breakaways that is repulsive to us. Truly, we as Mormons tend to understand and value that sacrifice, person for person, more totally and more respectfully than the “mainstream” churches of this world.

You want to prove otherwise? go for it.
