Adulterating Jesus for Self-Adulation

Journal of Discourses 26:186 – 187 “If it were possible for the Lord Jesus to descend from the mansions of glory and take possession of a mortal tabernacle, and be born of a woman in the shape of an infant, is it not equally possible that we all did the same? …

The Bible proves to us that Jesus existed with the Father, and that He descended from His high estate in the regions of glory to become a mortal man…Now, is there anything difficult or incomprehensible in the thought, that we all in like manner, existed with the Father, and with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, before we came here? ” – George Q. Cannon, Salt Lake City, September 28th, 1884

1 Corinthians 15:44-47 “It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 45 And so it is written,  The first man Adam was made a living soul;  the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. 47 The first man is of the earth,  earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.”

John 3:13 “And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.”

Proverbs 30:4 “Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son’s name, if thou canst tell?”

Today’s LDS reference reminded me of an event in my life years ago…

Being concerned our youngest daughter was suffering from issues stemming from her cleft lip and palate, I took her to an audiologist. When the tests were finished, the doctor sat me down for the diagnosis.

‘Well’, he said, ‘I have some good news, and bad news for you. The good news is that she does indeed have a hearing problem.’ As I looked at him in bewilderment, he said the bad news is ‘her hearing problem is selective’.

Without a care in the world my cute pig-tailed four year old little girl in her tights, and striped shirt, looked up at me with a grin extending ear to ear and said, ‘I love you mama’.

Like my daughter, we can all have selective hearing. We choose to either obey, or disobey God through our actions, and even private thoughts no one but us and the Lord knows. Today’s LDS doctrine comes courtesy of George Quayle Cannon, who chose to not read all of what God has to say about the so-called preexistence of mankind. Or, he chose not to obey. Again, those things are only known between him and God.

One thing that isn’t missed is their attempt at humiliating Jesus so they might have their 15 minutes of self-induced adulation.

The few verses we listed here are merely a small portion of what our Lord has said about this subject. We’re praying that all Mormons stop to realize this type of belief is nothing short of heresy in the worst degree. One day we’ll all have to answer for the way we’ve chosen to accept or reject what we’ve heard from God. May the Mormon people stand up for truth!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
