Who is the Book of Mormon Jesus?

06 December

“All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.” John 1:3

This was a week of inner reflection as America buried its 41st President, George HW Bush. The importance of who this man was couldn’t be missed in the regalia of numerous ceremonies honoring him, and the legacy he left behind.

Our prayers at the ministry this month is focused upon another man of much greater import we hope will capture the attention of every Mormon, and give pause as to Who He is in their own lives.

Jesus.

In Mormonism, descriptions of their Jesus are all over the board. They range from an imperfect, created polygamous brother of Satan, to a redeemer, albeit, without omnipotent power. Today we’re looking at what the Book of Mormon says about Him. Our list here is a partial one taken from an article we published several years ago, Jesus According to the Book of Mormon and the LDS Church.

The reason for this post today is to provide a concise go-to-list of LDS references you can use for witnessing to the Mormon in your life. There’s not much they can argue about because all references can be found right in the BoM they carry around with them every day.

As Dr. Walter Martin always said, ‘Use demonstrative evidence, not experiential reasoning, when you witness’. This isn’t a time for those goose-bump moments! To read the original list with 111 BoM and LDS references, click on the link provided above.

One thing we pray above all other things is for Christ Jesus to be glorified in all we do! We’ve also  included just a few biblical references denoting the greatness of Jesus you can share as you spend time with the Mormons. When we ran a Google search for bible verses on the greatness of Jesus, the shortest list we came across contained 217 references. You obviously won’t run out of things to share – God is good!

Let us know how we can pray for you, and those you witness to!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
