Luke 1:35 “And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy offspring shall be called the Son of God.””
The reason we’re doing this stems from a number of ‘coincidences’ that have taken place in the past week . One of those things was an e-mail I received from Melissa, and without her knowledge, it happened to be the same subject matter of our scheduled witnessing tip for today. In addition to those two things, I received an e-mail from a distraught Mormon telling me she just found out that Mormons believe God had sex with Mary to create Jesus. Oh be still my heart…
All those things combined, told us we need to remind people why the Jesus of Mormonism is not the same Jesus of the Bible!
First things first, here’s Melissa’s note –
‘I was watching a video last night of Jeff Durbin from Apologia Ministries witness to a Mormon. Jeff was trying to explain to the guy that they worship a completely different Jesus than Jesus of the bible.
When Jeff tried to explain what makes their Jesus different from the real Jesus, the Mormon (using the bible) became offended when Jeff said the Jesus of Mormonism was created by a sexual act between heavenly father and one of his goddess wives. Every time Jeff explained this to him, he told Jeff that he had to repent of saying that, and to stop offending him.
Throughout the conversation he told him to repent of what he was saying many times. He also said yes they believe those things (becoming a god, Jesus a spirit baby, and spirit brother of Lucifer), but it’s not something they talk about at General Conference.
So my question is, why don’t they talk about those things? Why are they offended when a non-Mormon questions them on it? Shouldn’t they proudly say, yes we believe those things, it’s what makes our church the only true church?
The video almost an hour long, but here’s the link just for a reference ~ Mormons Tell Durbin to Repent.’
As you meet with your friends/relatives in the upcoming weeks, remember to have a few of these examples on hand to use when witnessing!
