Visiting Teaching Message – December 2017

03 December

The title for this month’s Visiting Teaching Message is Willing to Bear One Another’s Burdens.

It starts off by quoting Thomas S. Monson, who said “We are the Lord’s hands here upon the earth, with the mandate to serve and to lift His children. He is dependent upon each of us.” The
‘we’ Monson is referring to here are the members of the Mormon Church.

The message also quotes Henry B. Eyring, “A great change began in your heart when you came into the Church. You made a covenant, and you received a promise that began changing your very nature. …

“… You promised that you would help the Lord make [others’] burdens light and be comforted. You were given the power to help lighten those loads when you received the gift of the Holy Ghost”

Considering Mormonism teaches a of another Jesus, and another gospel, whose hands do they believe they are?

Notice how their ability to serve others is tied with their membership in the Church? Does this mean (in their minds) that non-members aren’t equipped to serve others?

How could they have the Lord’s blessing to serve when they themselves need His salvation?

Mormonism teaches that no one is truly saved (living with God) without joining the Church, and receiving the temple endowments. It’s these temple rituals that are the means of salvation and exaltation.

Followers of Jesus Christ know our ‘mantel’, and authority to love and serve others comes from Him, and nothing else. It’s through the Holy Spirit we can love others enough to want to serve them, and share the gospel with them.

Galatians 5:13-14 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Galatians 6:2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Mormonism would have its members love, and serve people to the point of converting them to a false religion that will lead them to Hell. Make no mistake, converting people to Mormonism is the end game for them, it’s the reason behind every “good work” they do.

Before Mormons can truly love and serve others they must experience true salvation. This is something all of us at LAM pray for.

In Christ,

Melissa Grimes
