September 7 – ‘Matthew 12:31; “Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.”

Mormons think there are three reasons you can’t be saved; apostasy, murder and blasphemy against the Holy Ghost.  Today we see that Alma teaches otherwise.  I’d ask them why their scriptures contradict each other.

D&C 42:79 –no forgiveness for murder

D&C 85:11 – no forgiveness if you leave the church

D&C 132:27 – no forgiveness for blasphemy against the Holy Ghost

And they believe there is only forgiveness through obedience – Miracle of Forgiveness, pgs. 208-209 “…eternal life hangs in the balance awaiting the works of men…”

Alma 24:10; “And I also thank my God, yea, my great God, that he hath granted unto us that we might repent of these things, and also that he hath forgiven us of those our many sins and murders which we have committed, and taken away the guilt from our hearts, through the merits of his Son.”
