Tip of the Day, September 22

22 September

September 22 – Genesis 1:26; “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”

_____

In the ‘Inspired’ Version of the Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible you can see a ‘side-by-side’ comparison of how the Mormons understand the making of man.

_____

JST Genesis 1:29; “And I, God, created man in mine own image, in the image of mine Only Begotten created I him; male and female created I them.”

How can He have an only begotten if Jesus has a brother? Who would that “only” be?

    Confused? It gets worse…

“We were begotten by our Father in Heaven: the person of our Father in Heaven was begotten on a previous heavenly world by His Father; and again, He was begotten by a still more ancient Father, and so on, from one generation to generation”. (The Seer, Orson Pratt – Page 132)

“As far as man is concerned, all things center in Christ. He is the Firstborn of the Father. By obedience and devotion to the truth he attained that pinnacle of intelligence which ranked him as a God, as the Lord Omnipotent, while yet in his pre-existent state”. (Mormon Doctrine, Bruce R. McConkie – Page 129).

“Christ is the Firstborn, meaning that he was the first Spirit Child born to God the Father in pre-existence”.
(Mormon Doctrine, Bruce R. McConkie – Page 281).

“Christ is the Spirit of truth, a title first given him in pre-existence where as the Firstborn Spirit Son of the Father he attained godhood and became the creator of all things”. (Mormon Doctrine, Bruce R. McConkie – Page 754).

“Long before you were born a program was developed by your creators… the principal personalities in this great drama were a Father Elohim, perfect in wisdom, judgment, and person, and two sons, Lucifer and Jehovah”.
(Teachings of Spencer W. Kimball – Pages 32-33)

“Christ was begotten by an Immortal Father in the same way that mortal men are begotten by mortal fathers”.
(Mormon Doctrine, Bruce R. McConkie – Page 547).

“The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, basing its belief on divine revelation, ancient and modern, proclaims man to be the direct lineal offspring of Deity. God himself is an exalted man, perfected, enthroned, and supreme”. (Mormon Doctrine, Bruce R. McConkie – Page 249).

“Implicit in the Christian verity that all men are the spirit children of an Eternal Father is the usually unspoken truth that they are also the offspring of an Eternal Mother… that man is the “offspring of celestial parentage”, and that “all men and women are in the similitude of the universal Father and Mother, and are literally the sons and daughters of Deity”. (Man: His Origin and Destiny – Pages 348-355, as quoted from Mormon Doctrine – Page 516)

“We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see. God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens”! (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, Joseph Smith – Page 345).

“Through modern revelation we learn that the universe is filled with vast numbers of intelligences, and we further learn that Elohim is God simply because all of these intelligences honor and sustain Him as such… since God “acquired” the honor and sustaining influence of all things it follows as a corollary that if He should ever do anything to violate the confidence or “sense of justice” of these intelligences, He would cease to be God”.
(The First 2,000 Years, W. Cleon Skousen – Pages 355-356)

…and that my friends is what the Mormon church believes…

    Put simply:
“…Through modern revelation [?] we learn that the universe is filled with vast numbers of intelligences…” [On Mars, the Sun, and Moon…]
And this means: Smith’s Science Fiction Stories 😉

Anyone can say,” I am a prophet.” Then make up stories to try and “back up” that. The LDS is famous for their explanations of their explanations of those explantions until the subject has been explained away.( What was the subject anyway?)

An easier way to the truth would be to just read the Bible.

Good research, Camden, in an organized list!
