Tip of the Day, May 6

06 May

May 6 – 2 Tim. 3:16; “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness”.

The Mormon Church doesn’t adhere to the above verse; however they do litter their works with verses from the Bible to make them sound as if they’re from the Lord.  Remember in their Articles of Faith, they say that they believe the Bible ‘as far as it is translated correctly’.  This statement demotes the authority of the Bible while exalting another gospel they received from an angel of light, Moroni.

The term “Lamb” as a reference to Jesus is a New Testament phrase, but here we see it used in the Book of Mormon circa 560 BC.  The word apostle is also out of context as it’s a Greek word, also not found in the Old Testament.

Why would Nephi who supposedly lived circa 600 BC “behold” any other books written by people who weren’t alive at that time?  The prophets of the Old Testament never made reference to future writers of the Bible, and they most certainly didn’t use words from another language that wasn’t in existence yet.

The Septuagint, a Greek translation of the Old Testament, wasn’t produced until circa 323 BC so access to this version was even non-existent at the time of Nephi.

_____

1 Nephi 13:39; “And after it had come forth unto them I beheld other books, which came forth by the power of the Lamb….that the records of the prophets and of the twelve apostles of the Lamb are true”.
