May 27 – John 16:7-8; “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me.”
Philippians 2:7 tells us to set our minds upon the things of God, thus serving as a good reminder of what is holy, pure, and true for us to meditate upon. There is less likelihood that our vain imaginations might come up with something such as what the Mormons did.
“It is a waste of time to speculate in relation to his (Holy Spirit) jurisdiction…I have never troubled myself about the Holy Ghost whether he will sometime have a body or not because it is not in any way essential to my salvation.” Doctrines of Salvation, vol. I, pg. 39.
