Tip of the Day, May 22

22 May

May 22 – John 4:10; “Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.”

Ah, the gift of living water.  I am so comforted knowing that I can drink of it whenever I am thirsty and will always be filled with His provision of love, grace, and mercy.  All the things I am not worthy of, but He gives to me freely in spite of myself and all because He loves me.  Please, share this verse with the Mormon in your life!

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, except ye abide my law ye cannot attain to this glory.  Abide what law? The law of the new and everlasting covenant, which is all the covenants.  What a wonderful promise! And it is open to us; it is a free gift; it doesn’t cost us anything; only righteousness, faith, obedience; and surely we can pay that price.”  Doctrines of Salvation, vol. II, pg, 63.

I think you are trying to make two ideas about different parts of the gospel look as if they are talking about the same thing and cause a conflict.

As it says a little farther in John:
“14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never athirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”

The water is about you being alive after you die here on earth. The Doctrines of Salvation quote you used is talking about what happens after you get there and go through the Day of Judgment.
