June 3 – 1 Cor. 15:46-7; “Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.”
There is no plainer discourse about the pre-existence than what Brigham Young said in today’s lesson. As you will see, he is not elusive about the theory as Smith was in the book of Moses. Remember that the Mormon’s theory of the pre-existence is no different than re-incarnation.
“There is not a person here to-day but what is a son or a daughter of the Being. In the spirit world their spirits were first begotten and brought forth, and they lived there with their parents for ages before they came here. This, perhaps, is hard for many to believe, but it is the greatest nonsense in the world not to believe it. If you do not believe it, cease to call him Father; and when you pray, pray to some other character.” Journal of Discourses 4:216.
