June 22 – John 3:5-6; “Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”
We know that if there is anything we need to know for our salvation God is going to be clear about what part we are to play. Pay careful attention to the wording in these two verses from John today. Notice that it says nothing about us being the literal offspring of God or the spiritual offspring of Jesus Christ.
“Men may become children of Jesus Christ by being born anew – born of His spirit. When an individual believes in Christ and is properly baptized into a new spiritual life, and confirmed, he is born of the water and the spirit into a new spiritual life, wherein Jesus is His Father.” The Restored Church, pg. 387.
