Tip of the Day, December 20

20 December

December 20 – Hebrews 1:3; “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.”

Today we see that Jesus is the glory and the exact image of God and now sits down on His right hand, understanding this is a place of honor that He occupies.

Can you just imagine?  Think for a moment about this scenario!

The image He shines forth is neither a replica nor a reflection; it’s the exact image because Jesus is God.

He is the sovereign God of all, ruler, King, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, Almighty God.

It is by and through Him that God created everything.

Psalm 2:6-7, Matt. 28:18, John 5:22, Isaiah 40:28, Romans 1:20, Job 42:2, Matthew 19:26, Daniel 4:35, Isaiah 44:24, Psalm 147:5…

This Almighty God we worship purged our sins Himself because He wanted to.  His love is so great He chose to do this for us.  The sinless babe in the manger…

The LDS’s understanding of this verse has nothing to do with truth or reality.

“Seldom, in words as few, and with logic as persuasive, does Holy Writ set forth so clearly the nature and kind of Being that God is…Now Paul is saying that the resurrected Christ is in the express image of his Father’s person, which is to say that the Father also has a body of flesh and bones; or, as latter-day revelation—equally blunt, equally succinct, equally plain—says simply: “The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s; the Son also; but the Holy Ghost has not a body of flesh and bones, but is a personage of Spirit.” (D. & C. 130:22.).”  Bruce R. McConkie, Doctrinal New Testament Commentary,3: 136.
