ABC News reported that on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, the state of Utah voted to allow the firing squad to be used as a viable tool for the death penalty.
The reason this is such a big deal is because of the previous law they passed back in 2004 making lethal injection the preferred method of capital punishment except for the four men who were sitting on death row at that time.
Once again, it highlights the LDS belief blood atonement is necessary when your sin is beyond the reach of God’s mercy.
You can read about the struggle Utah’s burdened itself with in an article we wrote in 2010 here. Of course the mainstream media won’t investigate the real reasons for their decision, but as believers we know what’s going on.
I thought the vote on this subject matter was interesting in light of the fact Easter is just around the corner.
