Thought of the Day about Mormonism

Romney and Huntsman Glaringly Absent in Iowa Family Leader Forum

Where were Mitt Romney and/or Jon Hunstman yesterday and why weren’t they at the Christian church in Iowa with all the other Republican candidates?

Ironically enough the name of the conference was “Family Leader Forum”.  Mormons are all about families, right?

I have to wonder…did they not go because it was held inside a Christian church or was it because they might be asked about their faith?  When I was a Mormon (for 30 yrs no less) it was drilled into me not to step foot in a Christian church or bookstore.

I was wondering the same thing. Funny, I have been a Christian since 4 years old but have visited Mormon churches a few times for events or with friends. My faith is solid enough to withstand any building 🙂

Yeah unfortunately for the Mormon people they’ve been taught and subsequently believed that reading any unauthorized Church material, going to another’s denomination or listening to anyone’s beliefs but their own can cause someone to lose their testimony.
I have to say that if your faith is true and strong it should be able to withstand anything the adversary has to throw at it. It does cause one to wonder why those two particular candidates weren’t at that forum.

The first time I ever went to non-LDS church service was when I was 26 years old. I wasn’t allowed to go to “supposed Christian” churches growing up. I couldn’t read non-LDS authors either. I relayed the story in my testimony about my dad finding a copy of the Hal Lindsey book, “The Late Great Planet Earth” in my older brother’s room. He berated my brother about even having it in the house, then stormed out of his room, tore it up and threw it in the fireplace.
