Thought of the Day: Separating Facts from Assumptions

24 October

Today we’re doing things a little differently!

The reason for this stems from an e-mail I received from Twitter notifying me about some of the responses I received from my post yesterday, ‘Mormon Church Ignores God’s Directives and Heeds Joe Smith’s Racism’.

Now before we get into this, I want to be sure I make something abundantly clear. I’ve addressed each of the concerns in his exchanges and feel that what we’ve presented is to the point, and shown that we haven’t personally attacked anyone.

1.I personally don’t know the person who responded, and therefore, can’t speak to whether or not his relatives were exiled, and died for taking a stand against slavery.

2.Those of us here at this ministry want to make sure this gentleman knows we’re praying for him! We pray he stops to think about the teachings of Joseph Smith, and the implication that comes along with adjoining yourself spiritually to what Smith espoused.

3.Joseph Smith was notoriously ambiguous. While he may have taken a stand against something one minute, be assured he’d contradict himself the next. If this gentleman found a quote from Mr. Smith against slavery, you should ask yourself why he spoke so poorly of slaves the rest of the time. Case in point is the post in question. Another example is the entire canon of Mormonism.

4.I’m not here to bash Mormons, and name calling is better left at the playgrounds of school children.

Besides…

5.I have read the Book of Mormon. Several times over. I’ve studied it ad nausea for over 50 years.

6.I hate to stereo-type as it leaves far too much room for conjecture, and judgmental attitudes to thrive. That said, it’s been my experience many times over the years that when writing to us here at the ministry, it’s assumed I’ve said something personally against the respondent.

That’d be impossible because I don’t know that person’s heart.

You’ll notice I didn’t refer to anyone but Joseph Smith, and other LDS leaders as racist.

If you feel as if you’re included in the category of being racist, perhaps it’s the Lord convicting your conscience of this. My suggestion to that is: walk.

Come out from amongst those who’ve encumbered themselves with such ungodly doctrines! His word tells us as much –

2 Corinthians 6:17 ‘Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,’

Seriously, we’re praying for you Mr. Moser, and want nothing but for you to have a saving knowledge of Christ Jesus and Him crucified. If you find anything at all on any of our sites that is incorrect, please, let us know so we can address it immediately. I do not want anything I publish to be incorrect.

If you have questions, or want prayer, we’d love to hear from you!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle
